BDU camo recalls the woodland pattern worn by American soldiers for decades. On this Beretta 92XI, it appears as a finish that lets the pistol stand apart from the crowd at the range. The look is a little nostalgic and a little tactical.

Underneath, the pistol is a full-size 92XI chambered in 9mm Luger. The barrel is 4.7 inches, and the magazine holds 18 rounds. That is one more than the usual Beretta 92 magazine, so a long course of fire needs fewer reloads. Buy ammunition in the quantity you will shoot in one session, and store the rest somewhere cool and dry.

The 92XI line adds a lighter trigger and a frame-mounted safety to the 92 design. The platform has a reputation for smooth shooting, and it is one that many people learn on. The long slide and the weight keep the pistol steady, and 9mm ammunition is easy to find.

Treat the camo as a matter of taste. If you like it, the pistol will turn heads. If you prefer a plain black gun, other versions of the 92XI are available. The pistol is new and ships to your FFL dealer. The background check is completed there.
