Discontinued but not forgotten, the Smith & Wesson 3913 has a following among people who like older all-metal carry pistols. The seller says it was produced from roughly 1990 to 2006, and describes a compact DA/SA semi-auto with an 8-round single-stack magazine.
This one is chambered in 9mm Luger and has a 3.5 inch barrel. The finish is brushed stainless steel, which resists rust and holds up to carry. At about the size of a modern subcompact, it is thinner than most double-stack pistols and has the solid feel of a steel and alloy gun.
The 3913 is a hammer-fired pistol, with a long first pull and a lighter follow-up. Take time to learn the transition. Used examples are best checked for the function of the decocker, the slide lockup and the magazines. Spare magazines are less common than for current pistols, so ask about them.
For someone who enjoys older Smith & Wesson pistols, a 3913 is a pleasure to shoot. The weight tames recoil, and the stainless finish wears well. It is sold used and as described. It ships to your FFL dealer, and the background check is completed there.
