How buying a gun in Nacogdoches works
Pick an FFL dealer near you that accepts shipped transfers and name it at checkout. We confirm their license and ship the firearm to them. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door where Texas law allows.
Texas has no permit to purchase, no registration and no waiting period. At the dealer you show photo ID, fill out ATF Form 4473 and the dealer runs a NICS check. A valid Texas License to Carry can stand in for that check at many dealers. Federal law sets 21 as the minimum age for a handgun from a dealer, and that covers used trade-in pistols. State preemption keeps cities from adding their own purchase rules.

Since September 1, 2021, adults 21 and older who may lawfully possess a firearm can carry a handgun in Texas without a license, concealed or openly in a holster. Some recent convictions still bar it. The Texas Department of Public Safety issues the License to Carry statewide, after classroom training and a shooting test. The license is useful for travel and at the dealer counter. Schools, courts, polling places, certain bars and properly posted businesses stay off limits.
