How buying a gun in Texarkana works
Pick an FFL dealer near you that accepts shipped transfers and name it at checkout. We confirm their license and ship the firearm to them. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door where Arkansas law allows.
Arkansas has no permit to purchase, no registry and no waiting period. You show photo ID at the dealer, complete ATF Form 4473 and the dealer runs a NICS check. Federal law sets 21 as the minimum age for a handgun from a dealer, and used trade-in pistols follow the same rule. If you live on the Texas side, the pistol must go to a dealer in Texas, since a handgun is transferred in the buyer's home state.
Dealers in these communities all work for Texarkana-area buyers:

Carrying a gun in Miller County
Arkansas law does not require a license to carry a concealed handgun in the state for a person who may legally possess one. Act 777 of 2023 wrote that into the licensing statute, which now says the license exists for reciprocity in other states. The Arkansas State Police still issue the Concealed Handgun Carry License and the enhanced endorsement, which is needed for some places such as certain government buildings. Courthouses, schools and posted property stay off limits. Ask the Miller County Sheriff if you are unsure.
